Pakistan Fashion Week will be held in the country for the first time in November its preview will feature at a premier fashion extravaganza in New Delhi in September, a media report said.

The Pakistan Fashion Week is scheduled here for Nov 4-8, the announcement about this being made 'amidst a fashion juggernaut that spun around the fashion industry's who's who,' The News said Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Karachi-based designer Sonya Battla said she would organize a fashion show during the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Sept 5-9 at which Pakistani designers would showcase select outfits to give international buyers a feel of the Pakistan Fashion Week.

'It would be a thematic show; a trailer for the Pakistan Fashion Week,' The News said.

'The reason for organizing this show would be to show buyers the difference in Indian and Pakistani fashion, which on the surface level may seem similar but in fact have a distinct flavour of their own,' it added.

Earlier this year, Pakistan Fashion incorporated under the companies act and WIFW organiser Fashion Design Council of India had singed a memorandum of understanding to promote the talent of the two countries worldwide.

At the Saturday night gala here, film stars Reema and Meera, as well as Fashion Pakistan director Deepak Perwani were among those on hand, arriving late due to the weather-caused flight delays.

IMG Fashion that has been organizing fashion weeks the world over for decades will stage the Pakistan Fashion Week alongside media partners the Jang Group and GEO TV.

The event will be organized by Events Unlimited 'and with these power pegs working in full force, Pakistan Fashion Week promises to be the defining moment in the fashion history of Pakistan', The News said.

'The stream of glamorous guests was directed into a large lobby that had separate enclosures, each exclusive to different news channels. Tall mannequins displaying the essence of Pakistani fashion took centre stage and people milled around as the interviews continued,' the newspaper added.

Presiding over the event, Simon P. Lock, managing director of IMG Fashion for the Asia Pacific, welcomed different sets of three guests each onto the podium for a brief question and answer session.

He said an 'Oprah Winfrey style press conference' had been devised, 'so that things wouldn't get boring'.

Lock also confirmed that Colin McDowell, one of the world's most renowned fashion commentators, has been taken on as special advisor to the Pakistan Fashion Week.
