Sarah-Jane Dias crowned as new Femina Miss India

Mumbai girl Sarah-Jane Dias was crowned Miss India-World, the country's biggest beauty contest, at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai on Sunday evening. Puja Gupta was crowned the new Miss India-Universe and Pooja Chitgopekar Miss India-Earth at the Femina Pantaloons Miss India contest 2007. Sarah said, “The ground just disappeared from beneath my feet. I think I stopped breathing for a while when the announced the winner.” Sarah’s win catapults her to international fame and stardom, as she would now take part in the Miss World contest. The runners up of Femina Miss India 2007 were 22-year-old Pooja Gupta and 21-year-old Pooja Chitgopekar. A Pantaloon official said the pageant this year had decided to declared the Miss India-World as the official winner. The event was judged by several celebrities including actors Sanjay Dutt , Priyanka Chopra , director Subhash Ghai and model Ujwalla Raut .And what was the question that the three beauties answered right to make it through the pageant? The five finalists at the pageant were asked, “If you had to convince a rural woman to take part in this pageant, what would you tell her?” The pageant was spiced up with performances by actors Tushar Kapoor , Koena Mitra and Lara Dutta . Main Miss India drives the message of inculcating the values of believing in yourself and being proud of who you are and what you are today. It stands by the belief that every contestant is an achiever of her innermost desire and epitomizes the perfect woman of substance.
