Mumbai, Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Retail will launch 30 new 'Reliancefresh' retail outlets in the city and the adjoining suburbs this month.
"We will start 30 stores in Mumbai and Thane this month," a source close to the development said here on Monday.
He said the stores would be typically of an area of around 3,000-5,000 sq ft.
Each store would provide fresh fruits, vegetables and also products of Reliance Select and other related groceries.
"Reliance is planning for every possible retail format like convenient stores, supermarkets, hypermarkets and speciality stores. However, our expansion will also depend on the availability of real estate," he said.
Every store will have at least 50 employees which means that around 1,500 employees would be employed in the 30 new outlets.
Reliance plans to launch at least one hypermarket in the next three months and intends to penetrate even the smaller cities, he said.
"At present, we are working on getting suitable locations," he said, adding that "we have a pan-India ambition and we would like lets all over the country."
He ruled out the possibility of the cluster format of retail outlets.
He said that Reliance already has one digital store in Ghaziabad, where electronic goods were available and the company was focusing on expanding such stores aggressively within the next few months.
